Good News: Data Controllers’ Registry (VERBIS) Deadline Extended to 30.09.2020!
Pursuant to a fresh decision of Data Protection Authority, Data Controllers’ Registry (VERBIS) obligation has been extended 3 more months, from its extended deadline of 30.06.2020, to a new deadline of 30.09.2020.
Data Protection Authority published its decision numbered 2020/482 and dated 23 June 2020 allowing data controllers (i) with an annual number of employees more than 50 or an annual financial turnover more than TL 25 million (ii) located in Turkey or located out of Turkey while collecting/processing personal data in Turkey to complete their Data Controllers’ Registry (VERBIS) registration requirement until 30.09.2020.

The relevant decision has not been published in the Official Gazette yet, however released on the official website of Data Protection Authority as of today. We would recommend using the extended deadline as an opportunity to complete preparations in a timely manner rather than as a snooze button for procrastination.
